Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC), based in Johnson City, Texas, is the largest distribution electric co-op in the U.S., serving more than 270,000 accounts in an 8,100-square-mile service area. This service area extends throughout the Hill Country around Austin and includes Native headquarters and many of our friends and neighbors.
We have seen tremendous interest in solar energy in the Pedernales Electric Cooperative territory. We installed one of the first PEC solar systems back in 2008 and since then over 700 PEC members have installed solar on their property. Responding to the upsurge of solar interest, PEC began publicly engaging potential solar customers directly in 2011 when they partnered with the Texas Solar Energy Society (TXSES) to host what has now become the annual Hill Country Solar Tour.
At the 2015 Tour this past October, PEC announced that they would be introducing the On-Bill Financing program Empower Loan for members interested in solar for their property. The official roll out of this program is Monday, February 15th and Native will be a participating installer. Download the Empower Loan Manual.
